On March 3rd brothers from across the country came together to celebrate 191 years of Sigma Phi Society and 10 years since the founding Alpha of North Carolina. It also offered the potential for alumni to visit the new chapter house in Chapel Hill.
Marshall Solem F'79, chairman emeritus of the Standing and Advisory committee, and an instrumental figure in the founding of the UNC chapter shared his memories from the founding of the chapter, and the subsequent growth and success of the youngest member of our band. Marshall's wisdom and knowledge reminded us of the energy that can be introduced into our national Society when a new chapter is introduced.
In addition to our celebrations, we also hosted our second annual day of giving, and we were joined by 10 undergraduate brothers from the Alpha of North Carolina who spent the day calling and connecting with alumni from across the country. The connections that were forged through the conversations between brothers, young and old highlight that the bonds of brotherhood extend over generations.
Focus now shifts for the national towards our convention at Wisconsin which will be held in September.
